So You Wanna Be a Podcaster…
As many of you know, I did Podcasting (recorded interview / tip segments) for awhile before concluding that I didn’t have the equipment to do it justice (Podcasting / professional audio equipment ain’t cheap!).
For those of you who are using blogs to add an extra dimension to your job hunt, Podcasting could be just the thing to put you over the top. Today, I’ll tell you why PLUS I’ve got a way that you could win your equipment.
Read on….
HOW PODCASTING CAN BOOST YOUR JOB SEARCH
The essence of Podcasting is that you’re either providing Blog-like content through audio OR you’re interviewing folks related to your Blog content.
In the first case, if you’re just recording yourself to give tips, this is a pretty good way to get readers to your blog. There are a lot of people who like to get audio content related to their interests. I don’t know if they’re just too busy to read or what, but they like it.
And, as a job-seeker, it gives employers a great insight into your personality and passion. If you make boring recordings where you’re not sounding particularly interested in your topic, it tells them that you’ll probably be the same way with your job. Or, you could be enthusiastic and blow them away.
You can get another powerful boost to your job-search (and your blog) if you interview people on your podcast. Because you’re (presumably) interviewing people related to your topic, you get yourself well-known in your area of expertise, your can find out about jobs you never would have known about before, and it’s relatively easy since people like to be seen as experts.
The only downside, of course, it the time it takes to arrange, record, edit, and post the podcasts. Truthfully, though, if you manage one Podcast a month, you’re looking at around 5-6 hours of work a month. You can come up with that sort of time, can’t you?
